Suceava and Its Surroundings
Suceava County lies in the north – eastern Romania, in southern part of the historical province Bucovina. The area is an important tourist destination due to the beautiful nature and the painted monasteries, famous for their exterior frescoes. Some of them are included on the list of the world patrimony UNESCO (Arbore, Humor, Moldovița, Pătrăuți, Probota, Sf. Ioan, Voroneț, Sucevița)
There are only a few places in Romania where culture, history and religion are so closely interweaved. Historical culture and traditions, natural beauty, culturally rich communities and friendly people are all part of Bucovina’s mosaic.
Suceava County has 630.000 inhabitants and it is the second biggest county in Romania.
Once the capital of Moldova, Suceava city is the biggest city of the region. It has aprox. 90.000 inhabitants.
